HAWK 4 HOMELAND DEFENDERô VISITS WASHINGTON DC
The Hawk 4 gyroplane was displayed in Washington recently and the object of attention for many military and government representatives, including Utah Senatorís Hatch and Bennett who, along with GBA Chairman Jay Groen, discuss the aircraftís advantageous operational capabilities. On hand for the Small Business Homeland Security Expo, GBA was one of only fifty small companies selected and one of only two chosen for the special showcase display outside.

Following the event, through July 15, the Hawk 4 performed daily flight demonstrations and gave familiarization rides at a nearby airport in Leesburg, VA. Among the numerous visitors attending the flight demonstrations, several of whom flew in the aircraft, were representatives of the DEA, DOD, DARPA, the Department of Commerce, the President's Commission on U.S. Aerospace Industries, and the Aerospace Industries Association. Many senior staff members of U.S. Senators and Representatives attended, including Military Legislative Assistants. Law enforcement attendees included the D.C. Metro Police Department, Virginia State Police, and the Henrico County Virginia Police Department. In addition, press coverage was brisk with articles appearing in the Washington Post, Washington Times along with reports on local and national television, including CNN Headline News.

CIERVA DESCENDANT VISITS GBA
Juan de la Cierva (1895 - 1936), Spanish Aeronautical Engineer and pioneer of rotary flight, was the inventor of the gyroplane. His descendent, Carlos de la Cierva along with Col. Fernando Iglesia Lachica and John Gray of Groen Brothers Aviation (Portuguesa) Aeronaves S.A. visited with David Groen, GBA President & CEO, during a recent visit to GBA Corporate Headquarters in Salt Lake City. Our guests also visited GBAís Arizona Flight Operations Facility and were also impressed with their observations and most of all, their ride in the Hawk 4. Carlos de la Cierva and Test Pilot col. Fernando Iglesia Lachica spoke highly of our efforts to revive the gyroplane concept and shared some of their experiences relating to the restoration and first flights of one of Juan de la Ciervaís early autogyros.

GBA EXHIBITS AT LAW ENFORCEMENT CONVENTIONS
GBA exhibited at the Airborne Law Enforcement Associationís (ALEA) annual conference, held this year in Tucson, AZ. Our continued presence at this and other Law Enforcement related events continues to broaden our base of interest from this group. The Hawkís performance as an aerial observer during the Winter Olympics has proven its effectiveness.

GBA Gyroplanes of British Columbia, Canada exhibiting at the 97th conference of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP), this year held in Quebec City. An annual focus for leaders of Canadian Law Enforcement agencies, this event presented an excellent opportunity to update many and introduce to others to the unique capabilities of the Hawk 4 gyroplane.

This yearís International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) convention will be held in Minneapolis, MN this October. Exhibiting at this important gathering of Law Enforcement decision makers is an opportune time to familiarize attendees with the cost effectiveness and low maintenance requirements of the Hawk 4.
