AOPA PRESIDENT VISITS GROEN BROTHERS

We were very pleased to have Phil Boyer, President of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) accept our invitation to visit GBA during his recent trip to Salt Lake City. Accompanying Mr. Boyer was AOPA Western Region Representative Stacy Howard and Special Assistant Steve Harris. Mr. Boyer was in Salt Lake City to host one of many AOPA Pilot Town Meetings held around the country throughout the year. Mr. Boyer took time out of his busy schedule to see the SparrowHawk and get an update on GBAís progress. AOPA has a membership base of more than 400,000, or two thirds of all active pilots in the United States, and is the largest, most influential aviation association in the world. For more information on AOPA, visit their website at www.aopa.org.

SPORT PILOT WORKSHOP A SUCCESS

GBA Gyroplanes of Phoenix recently sponsored a Sport Pilot Workshop and SparrowHawk Gyroplane flight demonstration at the Glendale Municipal Airport near Phoenix, AZ. Terry Brandt, GBA Director of Flight Operations, conducted the workshop for a standing room only crowd, which included members of the local media. The new FAA Sport Pilot category makes it easier to fly for many pilots and others who canít pass the FAA medical examination required for a standard pilotís license. In place of the medical, all thatís required is a valid U.S. driverís license. More Sport Pilot Workshops are planned this year by American Autogyro Dealers across the country. For more information on the Sport Pilot category, visit www.SportPilot.org on the Experimental Aviation Association (EAA) website.

GBA/AMERICAN AUTOGYRO ATTEND EVENTS

American Autogyro and/or our Authorized Dealers are exhibiting at many events this year. Our season began in March at the Luke Air Force Base Open House/Air Show near Phoenix, AZ. Sunny Florida was our April destination for two of our favorite shows: the PRA (Popular Rotorcraft Association) Bensen Days Fly-In and the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Sun ën Fun Fly- In. The SparrowHawk was very popular at the Big Boys & Their Toys 2005 Expo held in Phoenix, Arizona during June.

Congratulations to GBA Gyroplanes of Seattle owner Randy Coplen! His beautiful SparrowHawk no only garnered the attention of those attending the EAA Northwest Regional Fly-In, held early in July in Arlington, Washington, but also caught the judges eye. Randy was presented with the Grand Champion Rotorcraft award for his finely crafted gyroplane.

July also found us back at one of our favorite annual events, the PRA International Convention in Mentone, IN. We had another great time at this well organized and fun event. Up next was the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI. Accurately billed as the one of the world's largest airshows, this years week long event attracted an estimated crowd of 700,000 and featured almost 3,000 showplanes. Introductory Flight Lessons were offered at a modest cost during both events. From experienced gyroplane pilots to those taking their first flight, all enjoyed their lesson in the stable and agile SparrowHawk.

Upcoming events include the EAA Southeast Regional Fly-in, Friday October 7th through Sunday, October 9th; the EAA Copperstate Fly-In, Thursday, October 6th through Sunday, October 9th and the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo, Thursday, October 27th through Sunday, October 30th. SECOND SPARROWHAWK FLIES IN RUSSIA

Alex, also President of the TwistAir Club in Moscow, provides service, pilot training and builder assist programs for SparrowHawk customers in his area. Many of our other Dealers are nearing completion of their aircraft and, like Alex, will soon be able to offer similar services.
